Phil Stern is an award-winning American photographer noted for his iconic portraits of Hollywood stars, as well as his war photography while serving with the "Darby's Rangers" in the North African and Italian campaigns during World War II.

A personal gag photo requested by Sinatra while filming The Devil at 4 O'Clock in Hawaii, 1960. Sinatra had been having trouble with the director Mervyn LeRoy.
“That S.O.B would love to see me crucified”.
When Sinatra presented it to LeRoy he said “Now you got me where you want me”. LeRoy had the picture hung in office where it remained for years.
